#9 TRAMONTANA looks to have made a nice return, winning a pair of jump outs on Jul 23 and Heat 1 on Aug 2 (white) where he sat on pace in both of these and was too strong late under minimal pressure. He was a little unlucky not to break his maiden already, finishing 2nd in his first two starts at short prices before going into town. Being a well bred colt as a half-brother to the multiple Group 1 winning star Trust In A Gust, this time off before his early 3yo season might do him plenty of good and we expect him to be quite competitive first up on the back of this bit of work. Mindful of price with his record, but one to follow regardless.
Scratched twice over the previous 4 days to run here, back to the synthetic that saw his jump out wins come on. Thought he ran well enough first up without being a standout.
He's a bit short, so hoping to get a bit of a drift closer to the jump and get $2.50+ (closer to $3). Looks a race between him and ALONTRO, who Luke Currie heads to Ballarat for as his only ride. Saving on ALONTRO.
BALLARAT - Race 4

The win by #5 ARLANDRIA in Heat 11 on Aug 25 was effortless, the lightly raced 5yo mare pushing forward after being hard held early and just cruising to the line in an easy win. She looked to maybe overdo it a bit early, but she was untouched in an Aug 17 jump out as well and might just be one we have to keep in mind when first up for the new stable.
Was a massive $151 earlier, been backed a little along with some deductions. Only the 6 runners so there will be only 2-place dividends, makes the E/W play a no go. Happy to have a small spec at the $41+. She certainly gets her chance in a small field!
