#9 SOUTH OF HOUSTON’s first jump out back on May 30 was a solid win over the 800m in a small field, but it was her work in Heat 5 on Jun 14 that really caught the eye and although it was a big winning margin, the way in which she won was the most impressive part. The 2yo Deep Field filly travelled on-speed and wide throughout before being asked for an effort at the top of the straight for ~100m or so where she opened up lengths on this field with ease, leaving the entire field in her wake. A $170,000 purchase from the 2021 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sales, she’s out of the mare Soho Secret who was a talented 2yo herself. Looks a nice filly for Mick Price and Michael Kent.

Happy Valley, Race 3 | #5 FINGERS CROSSED (3) - J Size (known as Bake Off in Aus)
Plenty of jump outs and trials for BAKE OFF now, his 3.5L win in Heat 2 on Jan 19 over the 1200m marking his sixth this preparation and this was easily his most impressive, especially considering the 105-rated Steel Prince was 2nd along with Serenade The Stars in 3rd. He’s ready to go to the races now and there will be no queries around his fitness or eduction. Expect him to go well.
