BALLARAT - Race 3
OTHER
Keeping our eye on #4 TELEPORTER. He was a beaten $2.25 favourite on debut as a colt, coming down to VIC and returning as a gelding where he finished a distant (but untested) last on Aug 2 before bolting for a run in Heat 16 on Aug 9 (orange) while he had a similar run to Djukon. This was a nice jump out without giving too much.
BALLARAT - Race 4
#6 THE QUEENS RICHES (10) - D Kelly
THE QUEENS RICHES won Heat 5 by a big margin in the fastest time of the day but looked to tire late as the rest of the field made up ground. She might be one of those run and jump types that over does it and dies late, so treading carefully and wanting to see another jump out to be sure, preferably with her settling better and not bolting to the lead again.
THE QUEENS RICHES bolted in a jump out back on Mar 23 ahead of Pintoff who then came out and won 3 of his next 4 runs including BM70, BM78 and BM84. She didn’t make it to the races, heading to the paddock before returning in Heat 15 on Aug 9 where she travelled beautifully on speed under minimal pressure from A Kelly to win ahead of some nice runners such as Maybe The Best. Think the Kelly’s might have a nice 4yo mare on their hands on the back of her jump outs.
OTHER
FRENCH STAR has a habit of winning jump outs. Heat 10 on Jun 16 was no different, with the 4yo mare leading the whole way to win well. The 2yo #12 DEFINING tracked her the whole way, sitting quiet along the fence before getting a gap late. She was in front past the line was she found clear galloping room. A reasonably well bred filly out of Seduced (a Group 3 placed mare over 1600m), this was a nice jump out debut. Expect to see another bit of work before debuting.
#12 DEFINING again took a sit behind the leader, ridden very quietly to finish 3rd in Heat 2 on Jul 7. She hasn’t been fully tested yet, but has put in two nice jump outs and is one to keep an eye on when she debuts.
Very keen to back THE QUEENS RICHES and save on DEFINING to breakeven.
