BlackBook - Thursday, 20 May 2021

Please see below for our #BlackBook runner comments for Thursday, 20 May 2021.The runner's highlighted are our #BlackBook runners (the key runners of focus), while those included in the 'other' section of each race are additional runner's that have jumped out well enough to be worth noting.

KILMORE - RACE 1

#6 YULONG CONTACT (8) - M Freedman

YULONG CONTACT was very disappointing on debut, immediately tipped out for a spell. Returning over 1000m in Heat 6 on Apr 6, he took up the lead before Andrea Mantegna joined him in the lead, but he stuck on well under no jockey pressure from Jarrod Fry to only go down by 0.5L or so here. Would probably want to see another jump out due to that failure on debut, but this was an encouraging bit of work.

Following on from his Apr 6 jump out, YULONG CONTACT again went down by 0.5L and again looked to travel better than the winner as he finished 2nd in Heat 5. He can make a winning return.

OTHER

Big win by #3 STONEFIELD in Heat 14, but he is an 8-start maiden that is making a habit of winning jump outs but not races. He’s had an 8-week let up and looks to be one to be mindful of but one we don’t want to rush into backing.

KILMORE - RACE 4

OTHER

Blazejowski clocked the fastest 800m time of the morning, winning Heat 4 just ahead of RAISE ‘EM UP with a good gap to 3rd. They clocked a slick 45.22s for the 800m.

#1 RAISE ‘EM UP is the big watch, especially considering Blazejowski was 5.6L off the G1 Orr only 11 weeks ago… he was 1st first up over 1300m at $41 on a Heavy 8 track at Sandown last preparation. Keep an eye on his price first up this preparation.

PAKENHAM - RACE 7

OTHER

#11 AWAPUNI PRINCESS was the eye catcher in Heat 4 once she checked off heels, closing well to finish 2nd to Criminal. Can win a country BM64 first up.

Thought that first up run was quite good. She went down by 0.5L to Yosemite (since a 2.6L 5th to Valaquenta in a 3YO HCP at Sandown), with Award Winner behind in 3rd who has since won a CL1. She had to weave through that day and ran on quite strong. Will be suited to a big Pakenham track.
