HORSHAM - Race 2

OTHER

#9 DEEP'N MEANINGFUL is a half-sister of Wedgetail and Chloe’s Comet, both handy horses. This filly 3yo filly was a $200k MM Gold Coast Yearling purchase and showed she might have some talent in her first jump out. There was a breakaway leader in Heat 8 on Sep 15 but she cruised to the line alongside Kanzai and looked a lot more comfortable in doing so to finish 2nd. Following.

#9 DEEP'N MEANINGFUL was mentioned after a Sep 15 jump out and don’t think she did her credentials any harm when 2nd in Heat 1 on Sep 29. She was away well but ridden with no urgency and dropped back to last but very wide throughout. She was given a push in the straight and came home well down the middle of the track to narrowly miss. Not a stand out, but certainly has jumped out well enough to be competitive on debut.

OUR THOUGHTS / BETS

Horsham, Race 2 - DEEP'N MEANINGFUL

After being scratched from a winnable race on Saturday to run here, we expect the stable to be pretty confident, especially with Dean Holland on board (that combination is 13 wins from 36 starts) and this is far from a tough race. Nothing from the raced stands out and of the un-raced on debut, VIDEO looks to be the only real danger.

This looks a nice race to kick off in, but there is certainly no meat on the bone in terms of price. Not too keen to get involved at the ~$2, but think she's worth a small/medium bet if we can get $3+ late. Expect her to run well and is one of the main winning chances. Looks for $3+ late to play.

Sha Tin, Race 3 - AWESOME TREASURE

Not recommending any bets as Sha Tin isn't our specialty, but we do have one from the Flemington jump outs that would've gone well here if he stayed and wasn't sold. His sole Flemington jump outs was good, with the 2nd horse in Logan Street Lion winning well first up here as well as subsequent winners in Reliable Dude and Skywolf also featuring in this jump out.

Our jump out review notes were:

The quickest heat of the day on Mar 26 was Heat 9, won by the un-named Lindsay Park galloper under the breeding CHARM SPIRIT x BIZZ (red). This runner’s half-brother in Bizzwinkle won the Group 3 NZ Cup over 3200m and was more recently 3rd to Hang Man in the Benalla Cup in September 2019. Might be a nice prospect for staying races over the spring so worth noting down the breeding and following - only the first jump out for this galloper too.
