BlackBook - Saturday, 7 May 2022

Please see below for our #BlackBook runner comments for Saturday, 7 May 2022. The runner's highlighted are our #BlackBook runners (the key runners of focus), while those included in the 'other' section of each race are additional runner's that have jumped out well enough to be worth noting. Our figures and benchmark ratings are from PuntingForm.

CAULFIELD - Race 1

OTHER

Two easy jump out wins now for #6 MAXIMILLIUS ahead of his return including his first on Apr 19 prior to his win in Heat 8 on Apr 26 which was very comfortable in the third fastest time of the morning. His debut at Flemington behind Lofty Strike and English Riviera reads well now and can go well first up on the back these.

CAULFIELD - Race 2

OTHER

She has some race fitness having had the 2x runs in March, but #7 DENY KNOWLEDGE absolutely destroyed them in Heat 12 on May 2 over the 1000m. She had a 5-week freshen up after those 2x runs, jumping out on Apr 26 prior to todays but this heat was clearly the most impressive as she led from start to finish to win under a hold. Monitoring where she goes next.

CAULFIELD - Race 5

OTHER

Now with Andrew Bobbin, #10 OCEAN BEYOND recorded a huge win in Heat 9 on Apr 21. He’s always shown plenty of talent but has largely unfilled it and is still only 83-rated. He’s one to monitor, Andrew might take him through the grades to get some confidence up before going back to town. Although, he’s only ever seen Good tracks in his 10x starts so he’ll be unknown on the wet tracks.

MORPHETVILLE - Race 3

OTHER

Big win by #2 WINNING REVOLUTION, clocking the fastest 800m time of the morning en route to his victory in Heat 10 on Apr 27. The 2yo son of Winning Rupert previously won an Apr 20 jump out as well and certainly looks primed to make his debut now.

OTHER RUNNERS - HK

Sha Tin, Race 4

#4 DREAM BOSS (7) - C Fownes

HORSE IN ROCK caught our eye when 2nd on Sep 10 and certainly caught our eye when he went straight to the front in Heat 5 on Sep 20, holding on for a pretty comfortable win in the second fastest time of the morning. He was given a couple of reminders throughout, but overall a nice bit of work. It looked as though he had the blinkers off for this, despite having them on in his Flemington jump out - keep an eye out for them on debut as they could spark a little more improvement in him. Happy to follow on the back of his work, three jump outs should have him ready to go on debut.

Sha Tin, Race 4

#6 HA LEE CHARM (6) - J Size

That’s now seven jump outs and trials for MALASANA, so he’s certainly not short of fitness or experience, but his 4L win in Heat 3 on Nov 8 over 1200m was certainly his most impressive bit of work. Wouldn’t surprise to see him head over to Hong Kong, but if he stays in Aus, we certainly need to follow where he pops up.

OUR BETS / THOUGHTS

Very disappointed with TREOTTO last night and copping a sizeable loss from that play, which we're unhappy about. Few runners today that can win, but not too keen to get involved - DENY KNOWLEDGE looks to be the best of todays runners.

Very interested to see the two runners in Hong Kong, in particular HORSE IN ROCK (now called Dream Boss) who looked quite smart in VIC.
