BlackBook - Saturday, 4 June 2022

Please see below for our #BlackBook runner comments for Saturday, 4 June 2022. The runner's highlighted are our #BlackBook runners (the key runners of focus), while those included in the 'other' section of each race are additional runner's that have jumped out well enough to be worth noting. Our figures and benchmark ratings are from PuntingForm.

BENDIGO - Race 1

OTHER

The first two across the line in Heat 5 on May 25 are both worth following as they clocked the fastest 900m time of the day.

In 2nd place is Godolphin’s #3 GARRUCHA, also having his third jump out. On Apr 29 he looked slick as he clocked the third fastest time of the morning before then finishing 2nd on May 18 when pushed out and really asked for an effort. He was asked for a little bit of an effort here as well, but was just no match for Thron Bone late but they did put a gap on 3rd in very quick time. He’s worth monitoring ahead of a debut.

*the winner of that May 18 jump out was Elliptical, who won at Sandown on Wednesday and the stable think is on a Caulfield Guineas path as a 3yo*

FLEMINGTON - Race 2

OTHER

#5 GHAANATI didn’t have much room throughout Heat 4 on May 27, technically finishing in the second half of the field on placings, but once she did get some room past the line she really got going. They clocked the second fastest time of the morning too. The 2yo daughter of Deep Impact was 4th in last weeks May 20 jump out and was also doing her best work past the line. In a previous official trial on Jan 25 she was 2nd to a race fit Hell Hath No Fury who then won in her next start after this trial. Can go well on debut.

FLEMINGTON - Race 5

OTHER

Huge run from #11 GRAND POPE in Heat 5 on May 6, flying down the outside of the track from the back of the field late to finish 4th. If he had of settled closer in the run, he easily would’ve won this heat but was forced to go back from the wide barrier and round them up. He was last seen finishing 9th of 10 at Sandown in February, so he’s been given a nice break and looks to be in good order.

Superb bit of work from #14 ELITE LEGACY, winning Heat 2 on May 25 in the second fastest 900m time of the morning. The 7yo gelding sat outside the leader in Soaring Eagle (who he dropped with ease late) before just cruising to the line to record an easy win ahead of the likes of Morean and Cliffs Of Belaura. He won a previous May 11 jump out at Caulfield with ease and is certainly ready to head back to the races, where he has a first up record of 8: 1-2-2.
