WANGARATTA - Race 3
OTHER
#2 PEREGRINUS has been gelded and it looks to have switched him on. He only had the 1 placing in 5 starts as a colt, returning now as a gelding with two jump outs win. He backed up his nice Jul 6 win (on a really Heavy track) with a 3L win in Heat 7 on Jul 12 where he did it with ease. He looks to have a nice turn of foot and he looks to be putting it together now as a gelding, hopefully this translates to raceday where we will follow.
Was simply poor first up as a gelding - maybe didn't handle the Heavy10 track? Getting a Soft(6) here and ~$5 for him, which seems overs based on his SP first up. If he doesn't win today, he'll struggle to win a race at all. Not a heap of confidence, small if playing at all.
NEWCASTLE - Race 3
#1 THE DENZEL (11) - Les Bridge
Jul 27 (Randwick) - super - was away well, sat 2nd just in behind the leader under a very strong hold - came to the outside of the leader in the straight and went to the line completely untested under a hold - closed a bit more late when given a little a little more room by Kerrin.
Latest trial was iffy and that hurts the confidence - ~$3.50 looks good enough for a small play.
NEWCASTLE - Race 6
#9 ROCCAFORTE (13) - R Litt
Aug 9 (Warwick Farm) - the colt needed to trial again after being very green on debut when finishing last - couldn’t of done much more, winning over 1175m here by 8L - looked a bit green again, was racing with the mouth open but was much better in the straight as he extended away - had race fitness but still impressive.
At $31, looks worthy of a small E/W gamble - not a stack of confidence though.
