Weekly Review - September 6 to September 12

Please note: no 2YO’s are featuring in our reviews for the time being as we will do full in-depth race previews for the first few weeks of the 2YO races anyway.

CRANBOURNE - 6 September 2021

SKIPPING GIRL was noted after finishing 6th on Aug 23, backed that up with an impressive 3rd in Heat 3 on Sep 6 as the filly cruised to the line out wide behind Love Broker and Inkslinger. The 3yo filly jumped super from out wide, sticking to that position as she went to the line under next to minimal riding and handle the Heavy(10) track well. She looked to be a nice mover who might have something under the bonnet that we’re yet to see in the jump outs, the worry might be her racing pattern despite settling more on speed in this heat. Regardless, looks to have some talent.

Looks as though Enver might have another smart one on his hands. After winning an Aug 23 jump out over 800m, the 3yo colt under the breeding STREET BOSS x SNITZEL BLITZ was a class above as he cruised to a win in Heat 10 on Sep 6. He jumped beautifully, pushed forward whilst being heavily restrained and then was allowed a bit more room to gallop in the straight as he extended away from the field. He went to the line with another un-named Alderson horse, but they gapped 3rd massively and he was pulled up on the line. He looks to move really well, very keen to see where he goes on debut.

UPDATE: this runner has since been named PINSTRIPED.

OTHER

SONG OF THE NILE was certainly with Julien Welsh on Aug 23 to touch up barrier manners. She jumped well in Heat 13 on Sep 6 but edged back and soon found herself last before making a move around the field out wide. She was given a push at the top of the straight and was a bit green, but made nice ground late to get into 2nd. Putting her on the watch list as this heat was quick and she probably would’ve won any of the other jump outs if she was in a different heat.

TALENT QUEST bolted in over the 1000m in Heat 15 on Sep 6, relishing the wet conditions and doing ex-stablemate Jungle Edge proud. He was very well backed first up, jumping as a $3.90 favourite but could only manage a 3.4L 5th. Back to the jump outs and the blinkers going on, they’ve switched him on and he looks like he can go very close in a maiden second up. Super.

CAULFIELD - 7 September 2021

OTHER

No blinkers for I’M THUNDERSTRUCK in Heat 1 on Sep 7, as a result he was slowly away but very quickly reeled in Profiteer and Starry Legend who took off to a big lead. Class above, smart gelding.

NICCOLITE is a filly to keep an eye on. In her first jump out back, she let the leaders take off in Heat 3 on Sep 7 before getting into rhythm and making really good ground on them late before being pulled up as she crossed the line. In her only career run she was 2nd to Salamanders who went on to be 2.2L off a Group 3 in her next start.

WANGARATTA - 7 September 2021

OTHER

Big win by FONTEIN DIAMOND in Heat 2 on Sep 7 over 1170m, her third jump out/trial now ahead of her return where she was just a class above. With only a 73-rating, we’d be keen to follow her into a BM70 first up.

Big run by ATOMIC SELFIE from the back in Heat 5 on Sep 7 to finish 2nd by only 1.5L as she went past the 64-rated Bluetooth (although hardly asked for an effort). She finished 2nd to a ridden out Never Say Nay on Aug 23, with that runner since running 3rd in a MDN at $11.

STAWELL - 7 September 2021

Had a note to keep an eye on SPIRIT OF GAYLARD following a May 11 jump out where he dropped back to last and closed very well despite having minimal room. He was never asked for an effort there and looked as if he could’ve exploded. Given a bit more time, he returned to finish 2nd in Heat 9 on Sep 7 over 800m where he sat midfield in behind the leaders before peeling off the fence in the straight and closing well again. The 3yo colt looks to have a really nice action and having finished 5th on debut at Flemington back as a 2yo, he might have some talent we’re yet to fully see yet. Love how he moves.

OTHER

Two jump out wins now for CHORIZAMA, making it onto our watch list after an Aug 25 jump out win over Elite Drake and backing that up with a win in Heat 5 on Sep 7 over 1000m where he led from start to finish along the rail to hold off a fast finishing Donatrice.

Put VANVOUVER RAIN on the watch list too, a nice first jump out for this filly.

BOLD MANNER with a super win, clocking the fastest 1000m time of the morning as she took out Heat 7 on Sep 7.

Super return for APSARA, taking out Heat 9 on Sep 7 over 800m in the clear fastest time of the day. Unseen as a 3yo, she was unlucky not to break her maiden as a 2yo in three career runs. Expecting another jump out for the now-4yo mare considering she’s resuming from a 71-week spell, regardless we must follow her.

MORNINGTON - 8 September 2021

DELICIOUS TYCOON was absolutely massive in Heat 5 on Sep 8. Having closed super from the back on Aug 25, the 3yo filly did similar here as she was heavily restrained out the gates and throwing the head around as a result. She would’ve been a good 10L off the leaders, was given a push in the straight without being hard ridden and managed to finish less than 1L off the winner and was in front past the line. Huge run here and a couple of really nice jump outs. Hopefully she can live up to the expectations that were on her on debut as she started a $2.70 favourite.

OTHER

RANVEER, wow. The 3yo colt is flying, bolting in over 1000m in Heat 1 on Sep 8 with King Of Hastings 2nd and we’re very keen to see where he gets to over the Spring. He was 2nd to Profiteer on debut before being spelled and then return for an easy win to then spelled again (certainly to be saved for the Spring). Does he go to the Coolmore? Profiteer is $6 and he’s $51…

SLAM THE HAMMA has had 12 career starts for 0 wins and 0 placings… and has absolutely bolted in Heat 3 on Sep 8 in the fastest 1000m time of the morning. Going to need a decent price to back him but a fair jump out win…

A watch on both RIVERINA CYCLONE and HOLLERFORADOLLAR who finished 1st and 2nd in Heat 4 on Sep 8 and went to the line together, both under no pressure.

It was HOLLERFORADOLLAR’s first jump out while it was RIVERINA CYCLONE’s second jump out having faded in an Aug 25 (black) jump out behind Ranveer. Thought both these runners closed well and we want to be following to see where they end up.

FLEMINGTON - 10 September 2021

Putting a big watch on I AM ENCHANTING from Heat 6 on Sep 10. The 3yo filly went to the line untouched alongside some nice gallopers who are a lot better than maiden grade, which included Tokorangi (Group 2 winner), Mimi's Award (Group 3 winner) and More Secrets (undefeated 4yo). Only her first jump out but she looks to have come back really nicely as a 3yo now, keen to follow where she goes but we’re expecting another jump out first.

OTHER

Super win by SWATS THAT in Heat 4 on Sep 10, defeating Probabeel by a nice margin in the fastest time of the morning. She’ll resume in the Moir Stakes in a week and a bit, at $11 currently on most agencies. She can run well there.

Caroline Jennings has made the move to Flemington and she wasted no time making her mark with PLUCKY PIROUETTE a very impressive winner of Heat 6 on Sep 10. The 4yo mare sat wide on speed before pulling away late to win by a good margin on Sliders, who has some speed herself. Nice win.

First jump out back for the Brazen Beau filly STORMLIGHT and it was a nice one, travelling really wide throughout Heat 7 on Sep 10 as she went to the line alongside Celestial Sol and Cassius and did not look out of place. On the watch list for another jump out.

Leiter has speed and is well performed, so no surprise to see her win Heat 9 on Sep 10 but it was the un-raced HORSE IN ROCK in 2nd who caught our eye as he travelled very wide throughout and went to the line without ever being asked for an effort. He had a 600m jump out at Geelong on Sep 1, which doesn’t give much of a gauge but this was a nice bit of work. On the back of this work, he’ll be competitive on debut.

When you sign up, select 'JumpOuts' for how you Heard About them and "JUMPOUTS" in the Promo Code. We highly recommend signing up, they consistently have the best prices and they don't ban you when you win...
