CRANBOURNE - 31 May 2021
DUTY DYNASTY is the younger half-brother of the 3yo Group 1 star Hungry Heart and was the easily the pick of those jumping out at Cranbourne. In his first jump out, the 2yo Snitzel colt cruised to an easy win in Heat 3 on May 31 (green) while clocking the fastest 800m heat of the morning in the process. He jumped beautifully, took up the lead along the rail and then kicked away upon straightening to win easily. The jockey even had a look over the shoulder with 100m or so left. A very impressive showing and he had a bit left in the tank.

A previous feature of our review prior to her debut, RUE VIVIENNE was a disappointing 6th that day. Immediately spelled, she made a winning return in Heat 4, coming over the top of the leaders in the straight. She’s very well bred and her jump outs have been super, she just didn’t bring it to the races but suspect there may have been an issue considering she was tipped out immediately. Keeping an eye out for her, hopefully another jump out as she looks to have talent.
BIG FLASH a nice win in Heat 6, leading from start to finish and it looked like he didn’t have the blinkers on. Hopefully a CL1 first up.
CAULFIELD - 1 June 2021
Clinton McDonald’s runner under the breeding BRAZEN BEAU x ROCKET COMMANDER has now put in a few nice jump outs. This runner won jump outs on May 11 and May 18 over 800m, before a nice run here in Heat 2 on Jun 1 over 650m (green with purple sash) when travelling very wide throughout - would’ve won this heat if travelled along the rail with the winner Rastelli. Well bred too, being out of the mare Rocket Commander who was Group 2 placed over 1600m and won a Group 3 over 1200m. Keeping an eye out for breeding, but looks to be a nice mover.

ZOUNILE began terribly but managed to muster some early speed to finish 3rd in Heat 3 and was making some group past the line with the heat only 650m. Watching for another jump out, needs to begin better.
MORNINGTON - 2 June 2021
BABA VANGA was way too good, winning Heat 3 on Jun 2 (green with cross) over 1000m with ease and backing up his effortless 2nd on May 19. She jumped beautifully in today’s heat, took up the lead and then kicked away in the straight under no jockey pressure. Looks like she had a bit left in the tank too and good to see her do it over the 1000m as well. Suspect she wasn’t ready to debut as a 2yo, hence the two poor runs and the latest with an abnormal breathing noise. Now as a late 3yo, she looks to have matured and will be much better suited once she gets back to the races.

RETELL moved well to finish 3rd in Heat 5. Will need to improve on last prep now as a late 4yo, but his best run came first up when 2nd at Sale. One for the ‘keep in mind’ list.
TIARA JEWEL pinged the gates, lead and won Heat 6 easily while clocking the fastest time of the morning. It was the 2yo filly’s first jump out this prep and it was an impressive one. She’s a big watch for another jump out to really get a guide on how she’s travelling, hopefully with a little more pressure and over further than the 750m.
ST ARNAUD - 2 June 2021
After a really nice May 18 jump out, the well bred NABBED was clearly a class above in Heat 4 on Jun 2 (red with blue sleeves). She looks to have a friendly racing pattern, sitting just off the speed in both of her jump outs before coming over the top late with a nice late turn of foot despite never actually being fully tested. The daughter of Written Tycoon looks to have some ability and we’re keen to follow.
Was a fan of HAI SUN throughout her first preparation, but she couldn’t quite get the maiden out of the way despite having three nice runs when finishing 4th, 2nd and 3rd. Returning to win Heat 9 on Jun 2 (green), this filly looks will be looking to get that maiden out of the way. In this jump out, she sat in behind the leaders before getting a nice easy run up the rail. Expect her to have another jump out before resuming.
OTHER
AMURI a real nice winner of Heat 3 over the 900m, jumping beautifully to take up the lead immediately after the gates opened and leading from start to finish. She had a jump out back on Apr 27 (3rd - green) but has had another break before returning here. She won a Morphetville maiden by 6L in the middle of two disappointing runs in town - one of those horses she beat in that maiden was Beau Rossa who’s now a Group 2 winner… she can go very close to winning a BM64 first up in her second preparation now.
BLUE SMARTIE looked to have some talent before her debut prep, finishing 3rd on debut before a disappointing run (at $2.70) that resulted in her being spelled. She returned in Heat 5, travelling quietly to finish 2nd and looking to have returned in nice order. Watching her closely.
Thought LUNAR PERIGEE moved pretty well when winning Heat 8. It was only this 3yo filly’s first jump out so one we’ll keep an eye out for.
FLEMINGTON - 4 June 2021
APOLLO JOSH had a pair of jump outs on May 21 and May 28 without blinkers where he looked to be beaten for early pace and just lacked that sharpness early. With the blinkers going on, the 2yo colt looked super and closed really well to and through the line when winning Heat 3 on Jun 4 (navy). He opened up a massive gap pass the line and did run a nice time for the day too in the process. He’s a full-brother to Long Leaf but was disappointing on debut back in January. Given plenty of time now, expect an improved colt this time in.

BETTER KICK another slick win, taking out Heat 4. He’s strung together two nice jump outs now and will certainly be competitive first up in a BM64 (or even a BM58).
The jockey didn’t flinch whilst riding UNFLINCHING to a win in Heat 5, the 2yo colt looking like a nice mover in only his first jump out. A son of I Am Invincible, he’s one for the watch list.
In her first jump out back, VILANCULOS matched motors with the 67-rated White Hibiscus late when finishing 2nd in Heat 13. Her first preparation ended in an Oaks run where she failed to finish, but her runs leading up to that were good without winning. She’ll get over a bit of distance, getting better over 1600m+. Following for another jump out first.
