VICTORIA
There were no Victorian Jump Outs or Trials this week due to Racing Victoria's trial of a race-free week.
NSW
BIG PARADE - Mark Newnham (Joshua Parr)
Jul 27 (Randwick) - can’t ignore this, massive 6.5L win in the fastest 1045m time of the day by 0.82s - his racing pattern does suit the trials though as he is a jump and run.
THE DENZEL - Les Bridge (Kerrin McEvoy)
Jul 27 (Randwick) - super - was away well, sat 2nd just in behind the leader under a very strong hold - came to the outside of the leader in the straight and went to the line completely untested under a hold - closed a bit more late when given a little a little more room by Kerrin.
CHILL - Anthony Cummings (Tommy Berry)
Jul 27 (Randwick) - super - jumped well but went back before weaving her way through the field to close super while under a hold from Tommy Berry - very good return and very good trial - keen to see another bit of work but regardless, keen to follow into her resumption.
LEFT REELING (NZ) - John Sargent (Louise Day)
Jul 27 (Randwick) - away slowly, dropped back to last but got a nice run up the rail to close super in the shortest way home - resuming off a 14-week let up here after a close 3rd on debut.
MASCHERATA (NZ) - John O'Shea (Rachel King)
Jul 27 (Randwick) - sneaky good trial - sat in the back half of the field along the rail, was searching for a run in the straight but held up considerably until the ~200m mark when she went back inside and found space and made up good ground to finish 3rd under minimal pressure - needs to improve on first two career runs, this is a good start.
GIULIA - Ron Quinton (Sam Clipperton)
Jul 27 (Randwick) - super - half sister to Bottega - smart trial by this filling, winning and going to the line with the smart A Very Fine Red in the fastest 735m trial of the morning (Billiondollarbaby back in 3rd too) - good form from debut too, 0.9L off Anagain who was then 2nd in a Group 3 - nice return, keen to follow.
MAYROSE - John Sargent (Louise Day)
Jul 27 (Randwick) - super, looks a smart filly - was away okay, forced to take a sit midfield on the fence and as a result, had not much room and was forced to over-race before getting a gap along the rail and showing a nice turn of foot to get up and win in slick time (only 0.01s off the fastest of the day) - would like to see another bit of work to be certain the over-racing isn’t an issue.
MA AND PA - Chris Waller
Jul 30 (Rosehill) - won a heat here against nice company, all previous winners, when leading - was good on debut when 2nd and then had excuses second up when 10L last - has since been gelded and we know he’s well bred, out of a mare who won over $2.1m in prize money - happy to follow him into 1400m first up.
SIRIUS GIRL - Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes
Jul 30 (Rosehill) - was very wide and on speed throughout, but still looked to close with a bit left in the tank alongside Group 3 winner Mallory - her first trial on Jul 16 was nice too when 2nd - this was a very quick heat for the day too.
BAHAMA - Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes
Jul 30 (Rosehill) - nice win in slick time - had good gate speed, went forward and led and never looked in doubt - not much was making ground late as she held her margin and did so under a hold - she debuted at $6 in a Group 3, was disappointing (when last) but was then immediately spelled - can make a winning return.
ABLE WILLIE - Chris Waller
Jul 30 (Rosehill) - far from disgraced here when 3rd, closed well - was away terribly but came home well wide over the top and hit the line with pace - if he can polish his starts, looks a nice horse.
MAOTAI - Kacy Fogden
Jul 30 (Rosehill) - super win in fastest time of morning and fastest L600m - won by 5.5L, looks talented.
GREATER HARLEM - Chris Waller
Jul 30 (Rosehill) - super return after a let up, closed really well from the back - half-brother to Harlem River - had to come from last in his latest run but couldn’t get there - following when he returns, hopefully he can settle a bit closer.
