Weekly Review - July 24 to July 30

CRANBOURNE - 24 July 2023

PIVOT CITY is ready to head to the races now, cruising to the line in his first jump out on Jul 17 before a super bit of work in Heat 6 on Jul 24. The 2yo colt got a lovely run throughout behind the leaders, peeling out at the top of the straight where he was then asked for an effort and really responded, sprinting away to record a dominate victory on the Heavy track. The 2yo son of Not A Single Doubt was a $975k purchase last year at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale and looks like a nice moving colt that’ll go well wherever he heads on debut.

LOVED UP LAWYER has put together two nice jump outs now, finishing 2nd in his first on Jul 17 before going one better with a win in Heat 9 on Jul 24 as the 2yo gelding travelled nicely out in front before extending away late while going to the line ahead of Celestial Storm (who has solid 2yo form) with a decent gap back to 3rd. The son of Menari ran a solid 5th on debut at Pakenham where he has since been gelded, which would’ve been a big decision for a $350k purchase.

MR TRAFFICANTI has looked nice at the jump outs since making the switch from the Lindsay Park stable to Gavin Bedggood having been purchased for $30k at the March Inglis Online Sale. Settling just off the speed in Heat 10 on Jul 24 before coming over the top of Colombe D'or and Icy Isea late to win. The nearly 5yo son of Turn Me Loose has a maiden win in him.

CAULFIELD - 24 July 2023

MRS SUPERGRASS was certainly the key take away following her win in Heat 3 on Jul 24, going to the line strongly when asked for an effort through the middle stages, getting over the top of the ridden out leaders with some relative ease. The daughter of I Am Invincible was a $500k purchase being out of the mare Crown Witness, who was a very speedy filly herself as a 2yo that included winning the Group 3 Quezette ahead of Catchy. This 2yo filly looked good in her second career jump out having cruised to the line over 700m on Jul 5 and is a filly to monitor.

CASTERTON - 24 July 2023

STAWELL - 25 July 2023

PAKENHAM - 26 July 2023

Despite the slow time, AKICITA was awesome again as he sprinted away to win over 1000m in Heat 3 on Jul 26. He sat outside the leader here and then when asked to pick up in the straight, he really got into the work of his massive stride and won nicely despite being quite green still late. As we mentioned following his Jan 9, Jan 16 and Jul 19 jump outs and trials, he looks a really nice moving colt that we’re keen to follow. The son of Grunt was a $300k purchase as a half-brother to the Group 2 placed stablemate Typhoon Titmus that they paid $200k for year prior and the stable recently purchased another half-brother by Brutal for $320k, so they obviously have a very high opinion of the family and expecting a nice debut from this guy when he finally gets to the races.

SALE - 27 July 2023

FLEMINGTON - 28 July 2023

A pair of nice jump outs now from First Light Racing’s DEEP SECRET. The 3yo daughter of Deep Field went to the line alongside The Summit and Ima Shelby in a Jul 21 jump out when 2nd before going one better in Heat 3 on Jul 28 as she cruised to the line when sitting out in front throughout, most importantly doing her best work past the line but she didn’t break the clock. She was a previous $160k purchase and while untouched in both jump outs, has some speed.
