CRANBOURNE - 10 July 2023
That’s three jump outs now for MONTEVERDE and his work in Heat 4 on Jul 10 was his best of a good bunch, cruising on speed under a hold throughout where only Masterful and Teser got the better of him late. This was similar to his Jun 26 jump out where Masterful also got the better of him late along with Rich Divinity having cruised to the line in a previous 650m Jun 12 jump out. The 4yo gelded son of Swiss Ace has been kept relatively under wraps and looks a nice mover, certainly one to monitor on debut.
Some to monitor having had their first jump outs this prep:
SACRED FALLS x ROCKS FOR ME is one to monitor following her first jump out, the 2yo filly closing superbly out wide to win Heat 6 on Jul 10.
HEDGED returned in style, winning Heat 8 on Jul 10 with ease. He was a well backed defeated favourite on debut but pulled up shin sore, given plenty of time since then.
Hard not to be impressed with BRIER, winning Heat 9 on Jul 10 ahead of Checkendon and the Group placed Maximillius while clocking the fastest 800m time of the morning in the process. Super return jump out from this un-raced 3yo son of Spieth.
AKROTIRI was always out the back in the early stages of Heat 16 on Jul 10 but was superb late, closing very quickly to finish 4th but only 1L off the winner. He had the 2x JO’s in a previous prep following his purchase after a Jul 19 NZ trial, this being his first this prep and over 1000m, one to keep a close eye on.
WANGARATTA - 10 July 2023
WERRIBEE - 10 July 2023
RETENIR is a nice moving daughter of Written Tycoon. The 2yo filly won a Jun 30 jump out where she cruised to the line when leading alongside a ridden out Beluga Express to win before winning again in Heat 7 on Jul 10 where she led alongside the very speedy Tiz Enuf, put under some slight pressure but responding to win. The 2yo’s have been a bit hit and miss this year but did like the way this filly did it against previous winners.
PAKENHAM - 11 July 2023
MORNINGTON - 12 July 2023
BALLARAT - 12 July 2023
GOVERNOR has been doing everything but win in his 7x career starts, now making his way to his third stable in Patrick Kearney after being purchased for $16k from the Inglis Digital sale. His first jump out on Jun 28 was a nice bit of work after travelling wide throughout, cruising to the line to finish 2nd - ignore Racing.com who have him finishing 7th. He then went around again in Heat 5 on Jul 12, winning by a huge margin in the fastest time of the morning. He needs an easy maiden, but should find one this time of year and looks to handle the synthetic track nicely so look for a Ballarat synthetic maiden first up.
STEEL JIMMY went to the line with Governor in that Jun 28 jump out before stepping out in Heat 9 on Jul 12 where he led and went to the line with a bit in the tank, but was overran on the line by Brechen but if you watch past the line, he was bolting and had him covered with ease. He’s an unraced 3yo son of Jimmy Creed and you certainly can’t knock his work at the jump outs ahead of his debut.
IMAPAGETHREE GIRL is a previous highlight BlackBook runner from her last prep with Doug Whitworth, since being sold to Henry Dwyer for $230k. She cruised to the line in Heat 9 on Jul 12, her first jump out back.
FLEMINGTON - 14 July 2023
FLYCATCHER had a prep as a colt which included 3x jump outs but he didn’t get to the races. He was put away and gelded, returning to win a Jun 30 jump out where he snuck up the inside rail ahead of the race fit Royalz (since 2nd MDN) as well as Skywriter and Don’t Change where he looked to be travelling a lot better than those gallopers. He went around again in Heat 10 on Jul 14 and was superb, travelling wide throughout at the back of the field before coming to the outside fence and closing over the top of the pushed out leaders with ease, having plenty left in the tank. The 3yo son of Epaulette is going well since his gelding and looks one to follow on debut.
