BlackBook - Wednesday, 27 April 2022

Please see below for our #BlackBook runner comments for Wednesday, 27 April 2022. The runner's highlighted are our #BlackBook runners (the key runners of focus), while those included in the 'other' section of each race are additional runner's that have jumped out well enough to be worth noting. Our figures and benchmark ratings are from PuntingForm.

OTHER RUNNERS - NSW

Warwick Farm, Race 2

#5 RINGMASTER (11) - Michael Freedman

Apr 19 (Randwick [Soft7]) - the late turn of foot here was super - the 2yo gelding sat midfield throughout but exploded in the straight to record a very easy 2.94L win over the 1050m - he clocked 1:04.12s vs day’s average of 1:04.58s - first trial over 736m on Apr 4, just was no match for Vinnie’s Spirit late, with that runner winning Trial 7 prior to this but in slower time - he was a $425k buy from the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale and his a half-brother to Twitch, Fiery Red and Blazerro (Group 2 placed over 1600m).

OTHER RUNNERS - NZ

Hawera, Race 2

#6 LUXURIANT (3) - Mark Walker

The 4yo mare's trial win on Apr 19 was MASSIVE and she clocked a very slick 00:59.03s (vs day’s average of 00:59.73s), which was the fastest time of the morning (15x heats) - she missed the start by well over 5L, but slowly edged her way forward and then responded super to riding in the straight to go past the entire field and somehow win… she had no right to win this. She had a previous trial on Apr 12 where she was away fine, sat midfield and then responded to riding in the straight to win over the 800m. Super trials...

*the trainer, Mark Walker, had 3x horses in this race and has scratched 2x of them to leave Luxuriant as his sole runner - she had the blinkers on in the latest trial, which could explain why she was slow to begin*

OUR THOUGHTS

Sale, Race 2 - TREOTTO

We were very keen but he was fractious in the barriers and became cast, resulting him being a late scratching and now needs to jump out again to head back to the races and finally make his debut. He was a 5-unit play, which is a 'special' and we didn't see him losing. It was certainly frustrating to see the winner Mygirlgladys coming out of his jump out where he beat her comfortably... easy to say he would've won post race.

Certainly following where he finally debuts, think he'll be very hard to beat regardless.

OUR BETS

As a rule of thumb, our new 'units' system will be based on the following staking plan:

  • 0.25 units is a speculation ('spec') bet at a bigger price.

  • 0.50 units to 1.00 units is a low confidence bet.

  • 1.00 units to 2.00 units is a medium confidence bet.

  • 2.00 units to 3.00 units is a high confidence bet.

  • 5.00 units is the maximum bet and is a 'special', or a very high confidence bet.

We recommend you have a TAB, TopSport (click here), Bet365 and Betfair account.

No plays. Total outlay is 0.00 units.

Overall (since 21 Oct, 2021): +9.64 units at Recommend Price | +43.16 units at Betfair SP
