Please see below for our #BlackBook runner comments for Wednesday, 21 July 2021. The runner's highlighted are our #BlackBook runners (the key runners of focus), while those included in the 'other' section of each race are additional runner's that have jumped out well enough to be worth noting. All NSW #BlackBook runners are 'other' runners.
We had RINNOVA first up in Race 7 at Sandown but she was a late scratching at the gates.
RANDWICK - Race 1
#14 BRIGANTINE (9) - James Cummings
Jul 2 (Canterbury H10) - only 2 of the 15x 890-900m trials were sub 57s, this was one of them and the quickest - jumped from very wide and pushed forward, travelled wide throughout and was way too good late when given a little squeeze - fastest L600m too and even eased down late so could’ve been even quicker - super.
Backing BRIGANTINE, he's the one to beat. Trialled on the same day as a few of these - clocked 56.39s vs Governor (57.90s), Devil's Throat (57.55s) and Starman (57.90s).
RANDWICK - Race 2
#5 LAURELIN (15) - James Cummings
Jul 5 (Gosford) - big 3.6L win in 49.17s (second fastest of the morning and above 50s day average) - showed plenty of early speed to lead along the rail, settled well and then kicked away under no jockey pressure for a classy win - starts $3 second fav to Four Moves Ahead on debut, can make a nice return.
#7 OUR BELLE FILLE (NZ) (2) - Peter Robl
Jul 9 (Randwick (Soft7)) - really slow overall time for the day, but the L600m was okay - sat just off the leaders, came off heels and closed well down the middle - didn’t break any records but looked to move alright.
Think LAURELIN is going to be hard to beat - saving on OUR BELLE FILLE at a big price. SNEAKY PAIGE is the main danger, second up with some nice form from the debut run.
