BlackBook - Wednesday, 18 August 2021

Please see below for our #BlackBook runner comments for Wednesday, 18 August 2021. The runner's highlighted are our #BlackBook runners (the key runners of focus), while those included in the 'other' section of each race are additional runner's that have jumped out well enough to be worth noting. All NSW #BlackBook runners are 'other' runners.

SANDOWN - Race 3

OTHER

Massive arm work out for Craig Newitt aboard #6 ZERELLE as the 3yo colt finished 2nd in Heat 5 on Aug 9. He ended his first career preparation with a win ahead of Three Kings where they gapped 3rd by 4L, that runner went on to win his next two starts including the Listed Anzac Day Stakes.

Looks one of the main winning chances.

This was a super return by #11 HENDRIKA, taking out Heat 7 on Aug 11 very comfortably as the 5yo mare led throughout before coming down the middle of the track and closing very well. She has had the two first up runs for 1x win and 1x placing (2nd), so she goes well fresh and would love to see her pop up in a BM58 first up now. Watching for another jump out before resuming first though.

Just the one jump out before resuming here in a Wednesday CL1. Looks an E/W chance.

SANDOWN - Race 8

OTHER

#7 THREEANDFOURPENCE looked pretty handy in his Aus jump out debut, ducking and weaving to finish 2nd in Heat 8 on Jul 20 under no pressure. Not much quality around him though.

Small E/W chance.

RANDWICK - Race 1

#7 GIULIA (11) - Ron Quinton

Jul 27 (Randwick) - super - half sister to Bottega - smart trial by this filling, winning and going to the line with the smart A Very Fine Red in the fastest 735m trial of the morning (Billiondollarbaby back in 3rd too) - good form from debut too, 0.9L off Anagain who was then 2nd in a Group 3 - nice return, keen to follow.

Closed well from last to finish 3rd in an Aug 6 Randwick trial over 1050m.

#3 CHILL (6) - Anthony Cummings

Jul 27 (Randwick) - super - jumped well but went back before weaving her way through the field to close super while under a hold from Tommy Berry - very good return and very good trial - keen to see another bit of work but regardless, keen to follow into her resumption.

Wasn't up to the class of Paulele and Remarque first up but now drops back to maiden grade. Only had the one trial heading into that first up run so should take plenty of improvement now second up.

RANDWICK - Race 2

#8 MONEY FROM THE SKY (4) - Mark Newnham

Jul 19 (Hawkesbury) - $200k colt, son of Frankel out of the mare We Can Say It Now who won 2x Group 1’s in NZ - quite liked how he closed off here, coming through the pack but didn't have much room - was out the back and looked to have a really nice action - looks smart.

Closed well again in a 1050m Randwick trial on Aug 6 while J Parr sticks from the trials.

#3 GREATER HARLEM (8) - Chris Waller

Jul 30 (Rosehill) - super return after a let up, closed really well from the back - half-brother to Harlem River - had to come from last in his latest run but couldn’t get there - following when he returns, hopefully he can settle a bit closer. Aug 13 (Rosehill) - not bad down the outside here into 2nd over 1030m - trial after being scratched during the week - should be ready to fire first up now.

#11 FIRE (12) - Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes

Aug 13 (Rosehill) - this was super in a time that was only 0.08s slower than Written Beauty - jumped beautifully, straight to the front and put up a massive margin around the turn - they were making ground late but he was put under no pressure at any stage - was just overran late but Remarque in Jul 30 trial and should be very competitive first up.
