All NSW #BlackBook runners are 'other' runners.
MOE - Race 1
#5 SANDY PRINCE (3) - B & JD Hayes
SANDY PRINCE’s debut 2nd to Saif reads well now, with that runner going on to be 2nd in a Group 2 next start and then winning a Group 3. He was then 2nd second up as well before being sent to the paddock. Believe he has been gelded now, returning in nice order to finish 2nd in Heat 10 on Jul 2 as he looked to move really well under minimal pressure and was in front past the line. Watch for another jump out, he looks to have returned well as a gelding though.
We wanted to see another bit of work after a Jul 2 jump out and this is the kind of work we wanted to see. SANDY PRINCE (yellow) jumped cleanly to take up the lead in Heat 9 on Jul 9 before kicking away around the bend to put up 2-3L on the field quite easily. He’s clocked the second fastest grass time of the morning in the process and really hit the line hard. He’s got good handy form as it is, keen to follow him into his first up run.
Started the $2.50 favourite first up but ran into one better in The Garden. That runner since ran 3rd at Caulfield, with the 3rd horse (Deel Blaster) since bolting in by 4L+ at Echuca on Monday.
Steps back slightly in trip from 1247m to 1200m, draws nicely with barrier 3 where we expect him to push forward and take a leading position.
It's now a 4-horse field and he's $1.45, so we'll let him go around at that price for now. Playing if he gets out to $1.80-$2 though.
MOE - Race 2
#2 LANDERS (4) - E Jusufovic
No match for Aminatu in a May 24 jump out when 2nd, but the un-named Enver Jusufovic 3yo (EUROZONE x DANCE MAIDEN) showed some nice speed of his own to lead and win Heat 7 on Jun 7 where he was kicking away late as he was challenged approaching and crossing the line. Potentially we’ll see another jump out before his debut, EJ places them well.
Mentioned in our reviews from a May 24 jump out under his breeding Eurozone x Dance Maiden, LANDERS has since won a Jun 7 jump out (2nd horse since 4th in BM58 by 2.8L) and finished 2nd in Heat 7 on Jul 19.
Preferred the $15+ in the bigger field but with heaps of scratchings, he's now $4+ in a field of only 7.
RANDWICK - Race 2
#7 UNWRITTEN (6) - Gregory Hickman
Jul 16 (Rosehill) - jumped with them out wide and went to sit midfield but looked as though Rachel King didn’t want to get stuck wide so she went forward to lead by several lengths - was never pushed out, with only the ridden out All England really making much ground (8L gap to 4th) - fastest 1030m time of the morning - first trial on Jul 2 was poor though…
RANDWICK - Race 3
#10 TRIFACCIA (8) - James Cummings
Jul 19 (Hawkesbury) - coming off a 13-week let up so would’ve had some slight fitness - was $5-$6 in a Group 2 last start - did a bit wrong here but closed really well once she straightened up and was allowed to go through the line.
Super trial and James McDonald sticks here. She has talent - keen, expecting her to win.
