BlackBook - Tuesday, 29 June 2021

Please see below for our #BlackBook runner comments for Tuesday, 29 June 2021. The runner's highlighted are our #BlackBook runners (the key runners of focus), while those included in the 'other' section of each race are additional runner's that have jumped out well enough to be worth noting.

BALLARAT - Race 2

OTHER

#9 COME ON EILEEN got better as she stepped out over further distance in jump outs last preparation, with a nice 1200m jump out on Oct 20 following a poor Oct 7 jump out. This time in, her first jump out - being Heat 13 on Jun 16 - was a win over 850m. Follow for a second jump out as we expect her to step up over a further trip, probably 1000-1100m.

BALLARAT - Race 4

#10 DUTY DYNASTY (16) - T Busuttin & N Young

DUTY DYNASTY is the younger half-brother of the 3yo Group 1 star Hungry Heart and was the easily the pick of those jumping out at Cranbourne. In his first jump out, the 2yo Snitzel colt cruised to an easy win in Heat 3 on May 31 (green) while clocking the fastest 800m heat of the morning in the process. He jumped beautifully, took up the lead along the rail and then kicked away upon straightening to win easily. The jockey even had a look over the shoulder with 100m or so left. A very impressive showing and he had a bit left in the tank.

As mentioned in last weeks review, DUTY DYNASTY was one we had to follow and the 2yo colt backed up that impressive jump out with a nice 2nd in Heat 3 where they top two gapped 3rd by a big margin. The winner was an unnamed Testa Rossa filly who might also be worth keeping in mind. They did run slow time though over the 850m.

He's been scratched twice now but finds a suitable race. Mark Zahra was booked to ride (as his only ride) but now Craig Newitt takes over. Expect him to go forward from barrier 11 and be hard to chase down and beat. Think anything above $2+ is a good enough bet - he looks to have some talent.

BALLARAT - Race 5

OTHER

DEEP SPEED was a class above in Heat 7 on Jun 16, but it was #2 COSMIC RHAPSODY who cruised to finish 2nd ahead of Mayan as he resumes after his fourth trainer change. He followed Deep Speed throughout, but that gelding was ridden out and extended away late while this gelding just cruised along - he was even past the line too. Watch for a BM64 first up.

GOSFORD - Race 2

#5 TOCOMAH (7) - Garry Frazer

Jun 15 (Hawkesbury) - SUPER - 4.4L win in the clear quickest 800m time of the morning (and quickest L600m so wasn’t tiring…) - wasn’t away the best but mustered some speed to lead the whole way and kick late under minimal jockey pressure.

Rachel King rode in the trial, but isn't on here.

GOSFORD - Race 3

#14 MISS LENORR (2) - Matthew Smith

Jun 15 (Hawkesbury) - jumped well, pushed forward to lead along the rail and won pretty easy in the end - was eased down late, ran nice time that was only 0.13s off the quickest for 1000m.

Kathy O'Hara sticks for the debut after riding in the latest trial.
