WANGARATTA - Race 1
#4 TITANS (14) - A & S Freedman
TITANS super win. The 3yo took out Heat 9 on Aug 30 in very impressive fashion, clocking the third fastest time of the day in the process. He debuted as the $3.20 favourite but was overrun late to finish 3rd before finishing 4th second up to See You In Spring. Returning gelded and with the blinkers on here, he looked a different horse, leading them up and then extending late under the guidance of Jye McNeil with a nice margin to 2nd. This is how you want them to win a trial upon returning, especially when it’s only their first trial. Very impressive and a must follow.
WANGARATTA - Race 2
OTHER
Big run by #1 ATOMIC SELFIE from the back in Heat 5 on Sep 7 to finish 2nd by only 1.5L as she went past the 64-rated Bluetooth (although hardly asked for an effort). She finished 2nd to a ridden out Never Say Nay on Aug 23, with that runner since running 3rd in a MDN at $11.
OUR THOUGHTS / BETS
Wangaratta, Race 1 - TITANS
Huge fan of TITANS and want to be with him. He brings in the best benchmark ratings (both last start and peak) and returns here gelded and blinkers on first time after some super jump outs / trials. The barrier is a worry but we feel as though the only danger looks to be MOON YANCO with that form behind Fortunate Kiss on debut. Wasn't a big fan of GORGEOUS PROPHET's jump outs and trials.
Backing TITANS (keen) and saving on MOON YANCO - happy to take the ~$2.25 available this morning and save at ~$4.20.
Wangaratta, Race 2 - ATOMIC SELFIE
Disappointed with the scratching of DENIRRA. ATOMIC SELFIE debuts at the home track and showed something in the jump outs. At ~$10, we can have a small E/W bet. Not too keen to get too involved in this race, low confidence.
