BlackBook - Thursday, 26 August 2021

Please see below for our #BlackBook runner comments for Thursday, 26 August 2021. The runner's highlighted are our #BlackBook runners (the key runners of focus), while those included in the 'other' section of each race are additional runner's that have jumped out well enough to be worth noting.

ECHUCA - Race 1

OTHER

Not a BlackBook runner, but LINAS LEGEND was super up the straight on Aug 9. This was her only jump out as she resumes in a country maiden over 1300m.

ECHUCA - Race 4

#3 SIGNOR FANGIO (3) - L Kennewell

SIGNOR FANGIO is a huge watch first up in Australia. The 4yo gelding was under a super strong hold on the inside of an Aug 5 jump out behind Zion (2nd in a BM64 since), Anirishman, Scorched Earth (3rd in a GRP 3 since) and Palumbo (4th in a BM64 since). He could’ve finished a lot closer there if allowed to run like he was in Heat 3 on Aug 17. He jumped super but was given no urgency and allowed to just drop back into a nice rhythm before being allowed to stride straight past the field under no jockey pressure and make up a lot of ground on the winner, the smart Annavisto who won in slick time (second fastest of the day and quicker than Dosh earlier) as he went to the line with Cardice. Can’t miss that baldy face and think he might be smart.

OTHER

#12 ORYX was the eye catcher, winning Heat 12 on Mar 12 (blue with white cap) by close to 10L whilst running the third fastest time of the morning in the process. It was a fair bit of improvement from his Feb 26 jump out though, and he has had a previous Feb 10 trial in NSW where 1st and 2nd have since ran 7th (of 11) and 13th (of 13). Treading carefully here, but this was as nice bit of work none-the-less.

#12 ORYX continues to clock nice jump out times but is yet to get to the races. He clocked the fastest time of the morning winning Heat 17 on Jul 23 (blue). One to keep an eye on.

Quite keen to back SIGNOR FANGIO, whose jump out's were super and should more than stack up in a country maiden with barrier 3. Expecting (and hoping for) a bit of a drift from the ~$2.40 currently available so waiting until closer to the jump, but he was very well supported in the early markets. If we can get $3+, taking that.

ORYX has had a lot of jump outs and taken a while to get to the races - not completely convinced but with D Oliver taking the ride (as 1 of 2 rides for the day), he's probably worth a saver to breakeven.

Waiting till closer to the jump, but looking at a play around 3u on SIGNOR FANGIO (at hopefully $3+) and 1u on ORYX at ~$4 (to breakeven). They're the main two winning chances for us, expect one of the two to win.
