BlackBook - Thursday, 19 August 2021

Please see below for our #BlackBook runner comments for Thursday, 19 August 2021. The runner's highlighted are our #BlackBook runners (the key runners of focus), while those included in the 'other' section of each race are additional runner's that have jumped out well enough to be worth noting. All NSW #BlackBook runners are 'other' runners.

WARRNAMBOOL - Race 2

OTHER

#1 BEACHHAVEN was super in his first jump out for Maddie Raymond, leading all the way in Heat 14 on Aug 11 as he went to the line with the 4yo Abandiman. Clocked a nice time in the process too, so a must watch into another jump out as he’ll certainly need to improve on his previous form when with Chris Waller.

#4 OURLINK jumped beautifully in Heat 8 on Jul 12, took up the lead along the outside rail where the 3yo gelding never looked like being beat. He clocked a nice time for the morning as well whilst winning by a good margin. He was just okay on debut in December last year when with Sarah Zschoke, resuming here for Gavin Bedggood having been given time. Expect another jump out before resuming in a maiden where we’ll be keen to follow.

#15 LETHAL ENCOUNTER bolted in Heat 7 on Jul 19. The 3yo gelding sat just off speed along the fence, cruised up to the lead before being given a push at the 200m mark where he then opened up a big gap and won comfortably with the jockey looking over the shoulder as he crossed the line. He was 2nd in a Jun 15 jump out and 3rd in a Jul 7 trial to Hydro Star, but the blinkers went on today and they looked to really switch him on. A son of Squamosa, it was no surprise to see him handle the wet track here.

Not a stack of confidence here and not keen to outlay much on this race, if at all. A Heavy track at the Bool isn't usually a winning formula.

BEACHHAVEN's jump out was super but has only had the one and form isn't too flash, so needs to really improve. Think he's an E/W chance here.

As for OURLINK, we suspected he might have needed the run first up having had a month between his one and only jump out and his resumption. He began awkwardly as a result but closed well to finish 2nd, but we've seen 3rd (Daring Feeling) run poorly since. Also looks an E/W chance and is probably the better chance of the three runners here.

LETHAL ENCOUNTER was quite disappointing on debut despite starting $3.50. Can't write off after one run though and also looks an E/W chance but is probably the worse of our three runners.

HAWKESBURY - Race 4

#5 BAHAMA (8) - Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes

Jul 30 (Rosehill) - nice win in slick time - had good gate speed, went forward and led and never looked in doubt - not much was making ground late as she held her margin and did so under a hold - she debuted at $6 in a Group 3, was disappointing (when last) but was then immediately spelled - can make a winning return.

With the scratching of WAY TO THE STARS, it looks to be BAHAMA's race. The 2nd horse from BAHAMA's trial, being Scat's Surfer Girl, came out and ran 9th of 10 on Wednesday which dampens the confidence a little.

We get a bonus back up to $50 for 2nd and 3rd on Unibet, so happy to at least use that on her. Expect her to run well here with HAMAKI the only real main danger.

We have partnered with UniBet where they will be providing us and all BlackBook followers with runner uplifts each week. We get to choose which runners so we’ll be sure to let everyone know when we have a BlackBook runner that we will get a price uplift for. They have other racing promotions also available, which you can see here.

You will find the price uplifts by going to Racing --> My Vault --> Runner Uplift.
