BlackBook - Sunday, 15 May 2022

Please see below for our #BlackBook runner comments for Sunday, 15 May 2022. The runner's highlighted are our #BlackBook runners (the key runners of focus), while those included in the 'other' section of each race are additional runner's that have jumped out well enough to be worth noting. Our figures and benchmark ratings are from PuntingForm.

BENDIGO - Race 2

OTHER

#3 PRECIOUS GAMBLE has been doing it well against much more experienced gallopers than him, who’s an un-raced gelding. His first jump out on Apr 11 was over 1000m when quietly ridden in 5th to Eagles Crag and other previous winners such as Fifth Position (4th). He then dropped back to 800m on Apr 26, travelling midfield before being ridden out to run over the top of True Nobility (since 3rd BM64) and ahead of Mark Of the Man in 3rd (since 1st BM64) and even Barcelona Rock and Petruchio. His latest was over 900m in Heat 4 on May 5 when finishing 2nd and splitting Exeter and Hengroen, so there is no doubt about the talent he’s been alongside of and it will be a matter of if he’s up to it when he makes his debut. It’s certainly worth noting that he’s by Pride Of Dubai out of Precious Gem, a Group 1 winning mare herself, and his half-brother by Russian Revolution recently sold for $250k at the Magic Millions. There is no doubt about the talent in the family and he’s showing some talent at the jump out, so we’ll be happy to find out if he can bring it race day and hopefully we get a reasonable price being from a smaller stable.

BENDIGO - Race 5

OTHER

The 7yo gelding in #8 ROSSMAN bolted in Heat 6 on Mar 30 in the fastest 1000m time of the morning and he did so with ease ahead of Florescent Star in 2nd and a further gap to 3rd. This was his first jump out back this prep and with 6x first up runs for 2x wins and 1x placings, he’s worth monitoring first up in a BM64 and he might be at a nice price - he won a BM70 first up last preparation.

BLACKBOOK SUMMARY

Runners

Confidence - Comments

Bendigo, Race 2

#3 PRECIOUS GAMBLE (7) - D Loos

Medium - after SCR, Spicy is the one to beat but our gelding can give a sight - playing SP.

Bendigo, Race 5

#8 ROSSMAN (4) - D Brideooake

Low/Medium - worth a small bet, JO was super!

Bendigo, Race 5 - ROSSMAN

ROSSMAN's latest jump out on Apr 27 didn't quite reach the heights of his first jump out, which dampens the confidence a little but don't think he had the blinkers on there (which he wore in that first jump out and he wears here) and he does have a first up record of 6: 2-0-1 where he won a BM70 first up last prep over 1200m (at $5) and a few punters are clearly keen on him as he's been backed in from an opening quote of $26 on TAB.
