Please see below for our #BlackBook runner comments for Sunday, 13 February 2022. Our figures and benchmark ratings are from PuntingForm.
WERRIBEE - Race 2
OTHER
It was the slowest time of the morning, but #11 WHITE WEDDING extended away well in Heat 9 on Feb 4 after having a solid quiet Jan 28 jump out. She’s by Written Tycoon and a half sister to Lake’s Folly, so there is some talent in the family and she looks to have returned in good order. One to keep in mind first up.
WERRIBEE - Race 3
OTHER
#12 PINK AND BLACK is a mare we’ve been following ever since her huge Feb 23 win earlier this year ahead of the likes of Yulong Sovereign, Zorro’s Dream, Mystery Shot and Pretty Brazen. In her return in Heat 2 on Dec 3, she sat on speed and was extremely hard held in the straight with Sevillana the only one who got her late. She looks talented - we’re hoping to see one more nice jump out before making her a definite highlight runner.
Quite keen on #12 PINK AND BLACK. Despite being well held throughout, she continue to pull away to win Heat 2 on Dec 15 quite impressively and has now won multiple jump outs impressively, including jump outs on Feb 23 (1st) and Dec 3 (2nd). We mentioned her after that previous jump out, so she’s now put together successive jump outs this preparation and looks ready to go to the races and make her debut. The 4yo daughter of Toronado has been given plenty of time and being a half-sister to Westbrook Park, she looks as though she has talent. Big watch on debut.
SALE - Race 3
OTHER
#2 DIVINA CALLE made a nice return, taking out Heat 4 on Jan 28 as she went to the line with Gulf Of Aden and clocked the fastest time of the morning. This backs up a solid Jan 14 jump out and she certainly has nice enough form from her first preparation as a 2YO, the latest run was a 3rd to subsequent Group 3 winner Biscayne Bay. One to follow into her resumption.
OUR THOUGHTS
Werribee, Race 3 - PINK AND BLACK
She had excuses on debut - heavily backed into a $3.60 second favourite, she sat second in the run on a very hot speed where they went -1.9 to the 600m before she was checked and tightened at the 200m mark, losing all possible momentum but still being able to pick up again late and finish 2.6L off them - she also lost her near fore plate during the run. That debut run rated +6.3, which is the best last start rating of this race so with some natural improvement second up and a better run in transit, she looks the one to beat here.
BABETTE likely goes froward from barrier 1 and with Damian Lane booked to ride, you know she'll get every possible chance - in saying that, her debut run rated only +11.1 and there hasn't been much form come out of it with Signal (3rd) running okay since.
Like that PINK AND BLACK sticks at 1100m second up off a hot race on debut where she had excuses - she's drawn barrier 9 of 9, but expect her to push forward and probably get a sit in behind a potentially hot speed or sit outside leader. If this was her debut run, we'd be very keen so happy to be with her again second up considering that run rated well and she had excuses.
OUR BETS
As a rule of thumb, our new 'units' system will be based on the following staking plan:
0.25 units is a speculation ('spec') bet at a bigger price.
0.50 units to 1.00 units is a low confidence bet.
1.00 units to 2.00 units is a medium confidence bet.
2.00 units to 3.00 units is a high confidence bet.
5.00 units is the maximum bet and is a 'special', or a very high confidence bet.
In addition, we'll put more of an emphasis on our highlighted runners (medium to high confidence bets) and lower bets on our 'Other' runners (low confidence). This is because the highlighted runners are striking at much more favourable 31% WIN & 62% PLC since August 2020 for 600+ runners.
We recommend you have a TAB, TopSport (click here), Bet365 and Betfair account.
Total outlay is 2.00 units.
