CASTERTON - Race 4

Big watch on #10 RICH PARIS. She was extremely hard held over 800m on May 23, which was a much different jump out to her work in Heat 5 on June 1 as she led and was pushed out in the straight, shown the whip and all. She was no match for the imported Lindsey Smith 2yo No Drama (a previous winner in NZ) but did it nicely enough ahead of Timson and Garbo. Can run a race on debut.


SWAN HILL - Race 9

OTHER

#12 PHILOSOPHERS STONE looks to have returned in nice order, winning Heat 9 on May 10 in good fashion. The lightly raced 3yo gelding led along the rail and was very hard held throughout, just cruising to the line without ever being asked for an effort. He took out the 1000m in 59.16s, which was above the days average of 59.60s. He resumed gelded last prep for only the 1x run where he won well when leading, gapping 3rd by 5.5L and he looks like one that can go on with it.

*has since won a jump out on May 24 over 1000m.

Favourite is going to be hard to beat, being The Gauva who's third up at peak fitness with form around city gallopers (but he is a 2YO). She's the best of the rest, so if you're going to back her, save on The Gauva.

Swan Hill, Race 9

#12 PHILOSOPHERS STONE (1) - T & C McEvoy

Low/Medium - maps to get a nice lead from barrier 1 and expect him to be in it a long way - nice E/W chance.
