Please see below for our #BlackBook runner comments for Saturday, 5 February 2022. The runner's highlighted are our #BlackBook runners (the key runners of focus), while those included in the 'other' section of each race are additional runner's that have jumped out well enough to be worth noting. Our figures and benchmark ratings are from PuntingForm.
KYNETON - Race 1
OTHER
Three jump outs now for #5 SIGNAL, the only horse to beat him being the talented Unflinching (who you’d expect to win jump outs) as he finished 2nd in Heat 5 on Jan 12 with a nice 2-3L gap to 3rd where the clocked 46.60s, the fastest time of the morning. He won a 700m jump out on Dec 22 and then a 750m jump out on Dec 30, so he certainly has some speed and talent. Expect the 3yo Danerich gelding to be prominent on the speed on debut, so hopefully he can draw low in a country maiden where we’d be keen to follow him.
CAULFIELD - Race 4
OTHER
#4 RENOSU looked to be the pick of the 2yo’s, going to the line under a very strong grip to win Heat 7 on Jan 14 but he did clock a slow time for the morning. Expect him to be on a Blue Diamond path and he looks good ahead of his return.
#5 SEBONACK had a really nice action as he cruised along the rail in Heat 9 on Jan 21, winning in nice time. He had a nice gallop and looked to do it with ease, just going through the motions despite winning and recording nice time in the process. A $260k Inglis Easter Yearling purchase, this was a lovely first jump out for this 2yo colt.
CAULFIELD - Race 8
OTHER
#2 JUMBO OZAKI clocked the clear fastest time of the morning, bolting in Heat 4 on Jan 19 over the 1000m. Now with the Yargi yard, look for a BM78 first up.
#11 THE GARDEN was an easy winner of Heat 5 on Jan 5, cruising to the line over 800m in his return jump out.
MORPHETVILLE - Race 3
OTHER
There were two Freedman colts that didn’t quite handle the Heavy track in a Sep 13 trial - one of those was the talented Philosopher while the other was this colt, #3 BIOGRAPHER. Being a $500k Magic Millions purchase, there is obviously some expectation of him and while he didn’t quite show it in his return jump out over 1000m on Jan 5, the blinkers looked to go on for this 2yo colt and they really switched him on, leading the whole way to win Heat 8 on Jan 19 in really slick time for the morning. He needed the blinkers, but a good jump out here nonetheless.
OUR THOUGHTS
Unibet have a promotion for this offering, offering a Bonus Back if your runner finishes 2nd or 3rd for all races at Caulfield, Randwick and Doomben - you can bet here.
Kyneton, Race 1
SIGNAL was smashed into $1.30 on debut (we were on) and he was simply a moral beat and should've won - sums up our recent luck with well backed runners that just keep getting rolled. That was over 1009m with the run rating +12.0 (clearly could've and should've been a lot better). He steps up to 1200m here (which should suit) and barrier 5 is a bit friendlier than barrier 1 that he had on debut. He can run well.
LUMINARA's four runs this prep have all rated between +3.2 and +7.2, a win can't be far away. Likewise AKKA'S METEOR with ratings of +7.4 and +4.8 in his two run this prep - he was 0.9L off Stay In Touch last start who won again yesterday in a BM58 at Werribee.
SCAMPTON is a full-sister to the superstar stallion Foxwedge as well as She's A Fox. She started a $2.70 favourite on debut but was quite poor, immediately spelled to return her on the back of only one quiet jump out. She's the X-factor in the race.
No bet race, but have SIGNAL on top just from SCAMPTON with AKKA'S METEOR as a big danger to those two. Kyneton can sometimes throw up some interesting results and at $3, not confident enough to get involved - would like to see SIGNAL win after having no luck on debut.
OUR BETS
As a rule of thumb, our new 'units' system will be based on the following staking plan:
0.25 units is a speculation ('spec') bet at a bigger price.
0.50 units to 1.00 units is a low confidence bet.
1.00 units to 2.00 units is a medium confidence bet.
2.00 units to 3.00 units is a high confidence bet.
5.00 units is the maximum bet and is a 'special', or a very high confidence bet.
In addition, we'll put more of an emphasis on our highlighted runners (medium to high confidence bets) and lower bets on our 'Other' runners (low confidence). This is because the highlighted runners are striking at much more favourable 31% WIN & 62% PLC since August 2020 for 600+ runners.
We recommend you have a TAB, TopSport (click here), Bet365 and Betfair account.
No plays. Total outlay is 0.00 units.
Overall (since 21 Oct, 2021): +13.39 units at Recommend Price | +50.57 units at Betfair SP
