WODONGA - Race 3
OTHER
#4 IMA GURU had a fair bit on these, sprinting away down the straight in Heat 1 on Apr 19 to record a very easy official trial win. The jockey gave him a little push at the 200m mark, looked over the shoulder and saw he had heaps on the rest of them and then just sat quietly for the remainder of the heat. Don’t think he beat much in terms of quality and he only clocked 48.50s, slightly below the days average of 49.29s, but visually this was a really nice win so worth following.
WODONGA - Race 6
OTHER
#9 LITTLE MISS GRACE might be able to run a cheeky race first up on the back of her win in Heat 16 on May 18 over the 850m, clocking an above average time in the process. She did it quite comfortably here, sitting outside the leader, who was ridden with a lot more urgency, and getting over the top late. We’d need a big price, but maybe worth a small low confidence spec.
CAULFIELD - Race 2
OTHER
A few nice jump outs now for #8 ATLANTIS TYCOON who looks ready to head to the races now. She topped off her Apr 22 2nd and May 6 win with an easy all the way win in Heat 2 on May 20. The 2yo son of Written Tycoon is a half-brother to the $1.1m Frankel colt, Significance who won a Listed race at Randwick over 2400m. He looks to do it well enough and can feature on debut.
#11 MCKEON was the last one out of the gates in Heat 3 on May 17 but was certainly the first one home, winning by several lengths in the second fastest 800m time of the morning. Her starts are a worry, having also been slowly away in a previous May 10 jump out, which is the only real knock her as she has certainly showed some talent and a turn of foot, especially in this jump out. The 2yo filly was a $180k Magic Millions buy as a half-sister to Danny’s St Darci and the Group 3 placed (as a 2yo) Unstoppabelle.
CAULFIELD - Race 4
OTHER
#4 JEZOULENKO was a class above as the 3yo filly led from start to finish in Heat 4 on May 13, clocking the third fastest time of the morning in the process.
Another nice jump out win for #4 JEZOULENKO, taking out Heat 3 on May 20 to back up her May 13 win. She’s flying ahead of her return.
WAGGA, Race 6
OTHER
Now with Dan McCarthy following the 8x runs with Chris Waller (for 1x victory), #1 GULF OF ADEN went straight to the front in Heat 17 on May 18 where he got a nice lead, with some company on his outside, but was way too speedy as he skipped away around the bend to record a dominant 3L+ win. A $47.5K purchase from the Inglis February Online Sale, he could be very well suited to some of the country and on the back of his Apr 29 jump out, he looks ready to go back to the races.
OTHER - NSW
Newcastle, Race 6
#8 CINDERELLA DAYS (10) - Joseph Pride
She’s a 2yo daughter of Astern that’s a half-sister to Persan.
May 9 (Warwick Farm) - sat outside the leader here who looked to get a bit of a gap around the corner but this filly really got going late when pushed out and closed super over the top to win - her first trial was very quiet as she was hard held and never shown, the opposite of this as she was pushed out - liked the way she responded and showed she had a motor there, looks a filly that we can follow.
BLACKBOOK SUMMARY
Runners | Confidence - Comments |
Caulfield, Race 2 | |
#8 ATLANTIS TYCOON (10) - B & JD Hayes | Low/Medium. |
#11 MCKEON (5) - P Moody | Low/Medium - race fitness (in this field) and her starts are a query. |
Caulfield, Race 4 | |
#4 JEZOULENKO (9) - M Ellerton | Low/Medium - flying at JO's, can run a cheeky race and looks an E/W bet at $15/$4. |
Wodonga, Race 3 | |
#4 IMA GURU (2) - P Maher | Low/Medium - has since won a trial on May 18 by 1.25L and debuts at the home track - worth a small spec. |
Wodonga, Race 6 | |
#9 LITTLE MISS GRACE (3) - B Maher | Low/Medium - having a small spec here though, can't let her go around with nothing on. |
Wagga, Race 6 | |
#1 GULF OF ADEN (1) - D McCarthy | High - all 5x of his career runs last prep are better than anyone in this field and his only career win came on soft - he should be too good for these - BEST BET. |
Newcastle, Race 6 | |
#8 CINDERALLA DAYS (10) - J Pride | Medium - expecting her to run well, but 900m for the half-sister to Persan at ~$2 on a Heavy track isn't very enticing. |
