BENDIGO - Race 3
OTHER
Nick Ryan’s 2yo gelding, #3 DON’T CHANGE, was super late and past the line in Heat 9 on Mar 25, although this was the slowest heat of the morning. The son of Holler had a previous Mar 11 jump out, which was probably only fair but he looked to take a stack of improvement coming into this bit of work.
#4 FIELD OF FLUTES won Heat 1 on Mar 21 in the fastest time of the morning, as the 2yo colt led from start to finish to win in an impressive display. A $140k at the 2021 MM Gold Coast Yearling sales, the son of Deep Field was 2nd in a previous jump out on Mar 9 and on the back of this work here, he can go well on debut.
BENDIGO - Race 4
OTHER
#4 SIMPLY OPTIMISTIC (blue) led from start to finish to win Heat 5 on Mar 28, holding off SHILO LASS (yellow) with a big gap back to 3rd.
OTHER RUNNERS - NSW
Randwick, Race 1 - #9 ASTERIA (9)
Dec 7 (Randwick) - very slick work from the 2yo Capitalist filly who’s a full-sister to the talented Profiteer - showed much of the same traits of her brother, with a stack of early speed to lead and was way too speedy for them throughout the 740m as she kicked away to win by 3.57L and a further 3.22L back to 3rd - only her first trial too, potentially on a Magic Millions path having been a $375k purchase from the 2021 MM sales.
Mar 18 (Randwick - Soft7) - fastest of the 3x 1050m 2yo trials - jumped beautifully, went straight to the front along the rail but did over do it with the head everywhere and mouth open as she wanted to get on with it - she kicked away around the bend to open up a huge margin where they then made ground on her late, although the horse making ground on her was Sheeza Belter who’s coming off a 6-week let up (race fitness) having had 3x starts for 2x 1st and a 2nd - she wouldn’t want it any further, but nice bit of work regardless.
Goulburn, Race 6 - #2 HERB (1)
Feb 9 (Kembla Grange) - half brother to Heyington Station ($133k prize money) - clocked 46.52s for the 790m here, only 0.06s off the quickest time of the morning but did clock the fastest L600m of the morning - was sort of slow away from the inside but pushed up from the inside draw to lead along the rail and had a kick around the corner, jockey even had a look between her legs before giving a slight push where he kicked away again and won by 5.5L - super first trial, can’t ask for much more.
*He has since had a trial on the synthetic on Feb 28 when 2nd to Sliders (since 6th BM64) with Shohei in 3rd (since 2nd MDN) as well as a trial at Goulburn on Mar 18 on the Heavy9 track where he won.*
