BlackBook - Saturday, 17 July 2021

Please see below for our #BlackBook runner comments for Saturday, 17 July 2021. The runner's highlighted are our #BlackBook runners (the key runners of focus), while those included in the 'other' section of each race are additional runner's that have jumped out well enough to be worth noting. All NSW #BlackBook runners are 'other' runners.

MOE - Race 2

#6 SUNSET LADY (8) - E Maher

This is how you like them to win, SUNSET LADY bolting in to win Heat 10 on Jul 6 in the third fastest time of the morning to back up her Jun 22 win. The filly’s mum Strange Lady was handy enough herself, winning over $150k in prize money with 12 wins from 51 starts including a HCP race at Caulfield. She looks to have a friendly racing pattern, sitting on speed in both jump outs now and expect her to do the same on debut. Erin Maher doesn’t have many in work, so hopefully this filly can give her a good showing on debut.

FLEMINGTON - Race 2

OTHER

You’d be sick if you were on #5 SIR DAVY last start, the gelding held up from the 400m mark and went to the line untested yet only lost by 1.8L… back to the jump outs, the 3yo took out Heat 5 on Jul 7 comfortably in front of some very handy gallopers with the first four across the line behind him rated 87, 99, 76 and 87. Big watch wherever he pops up next.

Looks an E/W bet.

FLEMINGTON - Race 9

OTHER

They’re taking their time with #7 ALWAYS IN MOMENT, scratched the other week to be given this freshen up before returning to win Heat 15 on Jul 12 over 1200m comfortably. Hopefully we see her go through the grades, she’ll be competitive in a BM64/BM70 next start.

RANDWICK - Race 10

#14 MISS DIOR - Peter & Paul Snowden

Jun 21 (Randwick (Synthetic)) - went to the line with (and better than) Yardstick - they dominated the rest of the field and ran nice time.

GOULBURN - Race 4

#3 SHAOLIN TEMPLE (NZ) (2) - John O'Shea

Jul 9 (Randwick (Soft7)) - fastest 1050m trial of the morning with a 4L win - was given a push in the straight, shown the whip, but looked to respond well to close over the top and win comfortably - one at odds?

GOULBURN - Race 8

#2 COBIA (4) - Brad Widdup

Jun 18 (Rosehill) - fastest time of the morning - made up a lot of ground on Superbellaa in the straight from break away leaders and was under very minimal pressure.
