SANDOWN - Race 1
#5 RANVEER (4) - M Laurie
Keen on him here. Think he should just win and go on to bigger targets this spring. He's a nice colt and with that Profiteer form on the board (where he started favourite), he's going to take a stack of beating. H
This colt has to be high up on the watch list of most. RANVEER started $2.60 on debut but was defeated where he finished 2nd to a pretty handy colt in Profiteer… we know how good Profiteer is but we never got to see this colt due to a number of issues. In his first jump out back over only the 600m, he clocked the quickest of the three heats and won Heat 11 on May 12 (blue) comfortably and even did so travelling down the outside fence. He’s smart and we’re keen to see where he ends up.
RANVEER super again. He took out Heat 10 on May 26 (blue) with ease over the 700m, backing up his May 12 win. The 2yo colt has a very friendly racing pattern, putting himself on speed in all his jump out and his sole race. Expect him to do the same when he resumes and he’s travelling super. Would be very surprised if he doesn’t go very close to winning first up. Talented colt.
OTHER
#13 OUR HEIDI won the open 800m heat of Heat 4, defeating the 3yo Always Sure quite easily in the end. She ran nice time for the day as well, despite being ridden out.
SANDOWN - Race 9
OTHER
#9 THE CENTAURIAN looked to travel the best with ease out of the first four across the line in Heat 5 including Sir Kalahad, Sierra Sue and Neneka. The 8yo gelding has a first up record of 9 starts for 3x wins and 2x seconds…
A star studded Heat 6, but it was the lesser known #9 THE CENTAURIAN who defeated group runners Bless Her, Away Game and Halvorsen impressively. He also had a nice Apr 26 jump out and might be one at odds first up.
He almost got the win for us first up, finishing 2nd at a massive $51. If the track remains in the Heavy range, he has 2 starts for 2 wins and he also has had 8 second up runs for 1 win and 3 placings. At $34+ here, seen worse roughies considering how well he was jumping out prior to that first up run.
SWAN HILL - Race 2
#4 MIDWEST (10) - A & S Freedman
JENNIFERWISH looks like a 2yo filly with some talent. She was 2nd on Mar 24, 1st on Mar 31 and then 1st again in Heat 15 on Apr 14 (blue), finishing just ahead of MIDWEST with a big gap to 3rd. Both these gallopers took up the lead and were clearly a class above and want to follow both of them.
MIDWEST is also quite handy and his form reads alright now. His debut was in a handy race in the lead up to the Blue Diamond, won by General Beau before finishing 3rd second up to the smart Tycoon Humma (won next start) and Frostin’ (won next start by 2.2L at $1.95) with a 3.25L gap to 4th.
He's making a habit being a track star but not getting it done on race day. Second up here, and the horse that did beat him first up (Commands The Field) went on to run 6th at Flemington behind the likes of Argentia and Invincible Caviar, plus they gapped 3rd by 4.5L that day. Needs to win this... giving one more chance.
