BlackBook - Saturday, 11 September 2021

Please see below for our #BlackBook runner comments for Saturday, 11 September 2021. The runner's highlighted are our #BlackBook runners (the key runners of focus), while those included in the 'other' section of each race are additional runner's that have jumped out well enough to be worth noting. Our figures and benchmark ratings are from PuntingForm.

FLEMINGTON - Race 3

OTHER

#3 FINANCE TYCOON clocked the clear fastest time of the morning with an all the way win in Heat 5 on Aug 27, defeating The Astrologist. Looked like the blinkers went on here after a quieter Aug 9 without the blinkers. He looks in super order ahead of his return.

Expecting #7 DIO to be on a Guineas path, especially with his breeding as a full-brother to Sunlight. Had a really nice Aug 26 trial at Rosehill in the fastest of the day behind Nature Strip and come down to VIC with a super win in Heat 7 on Sep 3 (orange). He was poor in a Group 2 on debut but his last start 2nd to Scorched Earth (where they gapped 3rd by 3L) reads well now. He’s a real nice mover and hoping he pops up in a weaker mid-week race before going into town.

FLEMINGTON - Race 6

OTHER

#13 BUTTER CHICKEN was super as she closed from last to win Heat 2 on Aug 30, clocking the fastest 1190m time on a day that featured some smart spring horses. A very impressive return from the lightly raced 4yo, very keen to see where she resumes as she’s a mare who will likely feature in some nice spring races.

ECHUCA - Race 3

OTHER

Super win by #13 SWEET HOME ALABAMA, taking out Heat 18 on Aug 20 comfortably but she’s made a habit of not translating her track work to the races. Not much confidence.

ECHUCA - Race 5

OTHER

Putting a watch on #4 SOKKIES. The 4yo gelding was 2nd on Aug 23 and also 2nd in Heat 2 on Aug 31 to the 74-rated 5yo Prince Of Helena. Was $101 on debut back in June and was poor but the trial after was okay before the 10-week let up and returning for these two jump out 2nd’s. Not a stack of confidence, just a watch and a small spec at a big price.

OUR THOUGHTS / BETS

Flemington, Race 3 - FINANCE TYCOON & DIO

INGRATIATING looks to be hard to beat but think FINANCE TYCOON can make it a race, especially if he runs to his best with the ratings he has - he's the best chance of knocking off INGRATIATING, if anyone is to. DIO is probably not quite at their level. Happy to watch this race or be playing FINANCE TYCOON with the bonus back offers.

Flemington, Race 6 - BUTTER CHICKEN

Accepted to run in Race 5 but has been scratched to run here in a Group 2. She will have to be good to win this with some nice Group 1 horses in this race. Looks a small E/W chance but we won't be on, happy to watch.

Echuca, Race 2 - MISHIKA - LATE SCRATCHING AT THE GATES.

Echuca, Race 3 - SWEET HOME ALABAMA

She's been scratched 3-4 times over the past few weeks, potentially trying to find the perfect race to kick off in. Finally runs here and draw's well but not much trust. MISS ARIZONA brings in the clear best ratings, but though STERN IMPULSE pretty much matched her in the latest official trial - think one of these two wins and have SWEET HOME ALABAMA as the third pick and an E/W chance. Staying out of this one.

Echuca, Race 5 - SOKKIES

Needs to improve a stack to win this but the latest jump outs were alright. Expecting a drift late but happy to have a small spec at the price - not confident at all but can have a tiny bet at a big price.

Echuca, Race 8 - KIPKETER - LATE SCRATCHING.
