BlackBook - Saturday, 1 January 2022

Please see below for our #BlackBook runner comments for Saturday, 1 January 2022. The runner's highlighted are our #BlackBook runners (the key runners of focus), while those included in the 'other' section of each race are additional runner's that have jumped out well enough to be worth noting. Our figures and benchmark ratings are from PuntingForm.

MORNINGTON - Race 3

OTHER

In her first jump out back in Heat 5 on Dec 1 (yellow), #8 BELAQUA BELLE was slowly away and clearly last but slowly mustered speed throughout as she gradually went past all of the field to go forward and win. She did it under her own steam, never asked to fully extend but didn’t break the clock. Solid return.

Latest JO was on Dec 15 (pink), see below:

MURRAY BRIDGE - Race 3

OTHER

#6 KASAMI won well in Heat 1 on Dec 15 ahead of the 66-rated Miletus. She was disappointing first up despite starting $4 that day, with this jump out coming in between her first up and upcoming second up run where she should certainly improve.

FLEMINGTON - Race 4

OTHER

Expect an improved performance from #8 RUSHEEN third up, having a jump out following his disappointing run as he took out Heat 1 on Dec 22. He resumed gelded this preparation, finishing 3rd to the smart Unflinching first up in a BM70 at a big price before a very disappointing run at his latest. Looked as though the blinkers went on here and he looked to be in good order. He can improve third up.

OTHER RUNNERS

Sha Tin, Race 2 - DASSIT

ATEOVERITE backed up his Dec 22 win with a nice official win in Heat 2 on Jan 14 over 1100m. He pushed forward and sat just off the speed before showing a nice turn of foot when he peeled out, the same turn of foot he showed in his first jump out. He won this well under the guidance of Liam Riordan and a 1400m MDN on debut will suit.

Sha Tin, Race 2 - BEAUTY LIVE

Wow this was some sort of run from I AM PILGRIM, a huge run from the back of the field and out wide to win Heat 13 by 1L over 990m in a super impressive performance and probably the top performer. The 3yo son of Shamus Award has had a few jump outs now - on Mar 15 he dropped back to a very clear last, hooked wide and closed really well to finish 5th somehow and was continually making ground even past the line. On Mar 29 he jumped a lot better but was beaten a long way. A couple weeks off before Apr 19 and it was the same as his first jump out, dropping back to last before making a run up the inside to finish 2nd. Doesn’t look like he’ll have a friendly racing pattern as he will get back, but wow has he shown a turn of foot and he looks like he has a bit of talent.

OUR THOUGHTS

Happy to steer clear and have the no bets today - very warm day and none of our runners appeal too much. Prefer to not to force any bets and have the day off.

Happy New Year everyone, thank you for the support!

  • 1.00 units to 2.00 units is a medium confidence bet.

  • 2.00 units to 3.00 units is a high confidence bet.

  • 5.00 units is the maximum bet and is a 'special', or a very high confidence bet.

No bets. Total outlay is 0.00 units.
