BlackBook - Monday, 9 August 2021
Please see below for our #BlackBook runner comments for Monday, 9 August 2021. The runner's highlighted are our #BlackBook runners (the key runners of focus), while those included in the 'other' section of each race are additional runner's that have jumped out well enough to be worth noting. All NSW #BlackBook runners are 'other' runners.
MILDURA - Race 3
#1 FOOLISH BOY has been completely untested in both jump outs, including Heat 2 on Jul 20. He is a 5yo who is a 7 start maiden, so doubt there is much improvement to come but these have to be encouraging as he looks set to resume for the new Jarrod Robinson stable. Maybe one to spec at big odds.
Hard to beat the favourite here.
MILDURA - Race 6
#3 AREYOULISTENING matched motors with Vongole as they crossed the line 1st and 2nd in Heat 11 on Aug 2 in slick time, the second fastest of the day. The 5yo gelding has switched over to Shawn Mathrick now where we’d expect him to resume in a BM58. Last prep he had 5x starts in BM64’s for no placings but 1x start in a BM58 for 1x win over 1000m.
Big price, could be worth a spec at the $10+. Last time he was in a BM58, he won with 63kg so the 63.5kg here should be no issue. Will push forward from barrier 3, but a query on fitness having only had the one jump out.
GOULBURN - Race 3
#10 MAYROSE (6) - John Sargent
Jul 27 (Randwick) - super, looks a smart filly - was away okay, forced to take a sit midfield on the fence and as a result, had not much room and was forced to over-race before getting a gap along the rail and showing a nice turn of foot to get up and win in slick time (only 0.01s off the fastest of the day) - would like to see another bit of work to be certain the over-racing isn’t an issue.
Was quite a nice trial and looks one of the main winning chances here.
GOULBURN - Race 5
#13 LEFT REELING (NZ) (10) - John Sargent
Jul 27 (Randwick) - away slowly, dropped back to last but got a nice run up the rail to close super in the shortest way home - resuming off a 14-week let up here after a close 3rd on debut.
Should go close here, one of the main winning chances.
