PAKENHAM - Race 2
#3 JONTY (9) - J Warren & D Krongold
JONTY was quietly ridden in a 650m synthetic Apr 21 jump out, but the 3yo gelding showed his talent in Heat 8 on May 5 (red with green sleeves) as he kicked up along the fence to lead before extending later over the final 200m as he was asked to lengthen out over the 750m, clocking the fastest time of the morning in the process. Mindful that 2nd and 3rd place here were 2yo’s, but the impressive part was the time and how he responded when asked. Another jump out stretching out over 900m+ would be preferred, but he looks good enough to be able to go close on debut where we expect him to be ridden up on speed.
Was pretty poor first up (on debut), but did start $3.20 that day and D.Stackhouse sticks as he steps up from 1000m to 1200m. The $17 is a nice price second up - saver at worst.
#8 MISS KEELER (7) - J Conlan
It was a really nice win by MISS KEELER over the 1000m in Heat 9 on May 25 (white with yellow sleeves), she clearly handled the synthetic a lot better than the grass as her previous jump outs on May 5 and May 19 were poor. She jumped well, pushed forward and was pressured early but held strong and had too much pace early. The jockey even had a look over the shoulder at the 200m mark she was travelling that well and she won by a few lengths in sub-1 min. We’ll look for a 1000m synthetic maiden first up.

OTHER
#4 CLEAN MACHINE was a $1.65 favourite beat first up and is slowly becoming a jump out specialist. She again looked good finishing 2nd (black with white sleeves) in Heat 2 under a very strong hold with (who looked like) Craig Williams on board.
Don't want to be taking $1.45 with her last start loss at a similar price. Happy to watch at this price.
#5 GERTANIE travelled better than a 3yo filly with 0 placings from 4 starts… leading up Heat 2 under a hold but was overran late as she was held back. Her dam was placed over 1600m at Caulfield in some Mares Handicap races - she might have furnished up a bit more now as an almost 4yo. Will be a big price to find out, can’t take anything close to $10 though.
PAKENHAM - Race 7
OTHER
Quiet Apr 19 jump out but a super win in Heat 11 for #5 LA CROFT for the new Kevin Corstens yard. She sat on speed and and very wide, quickening over the last 200m or so as he was given a squeeze. Closed super to show a nice turn of foot.
