BlackBook - Monday, 23 August 2021

Please see below for our #BlackBook runner comments for Monday, 23 August 2021. The runner's highlighted are our #BlackBook runners (the key runners of focus), while those included in the 'other' section of each race are additional runner's that have jumped out well enough to be worth noting. All NSW #BlackBook runners are 'other' runners.

PAKENHAM - Race 1

#6 COVERT (11) - A & S Freedman

MIDNIGHT CHARM (purple) and COVERT (red) crossed the line in 1st and 2nd respectively in Heat 7 on Mar 10, both looking impressive in doing so. Both of these 2yo colt’s were throwing the head around early before relaxing in the straight and hitting the line pretty much alongside each other COVERT is a full brother to to Ord, who despite not winning a race yet has some talent, while MIDNIGHT CHARM was a cheap buy. Both look to have some talent and worth following.

COVERT was green in his Jul 14 win at Mornington over 1000m, stepping back to 800m at Flemington where he looked nice as he crossed the line in 2nd in Heat 19 on Jul 23. He travelled wide throughout, but looked comfortable on the bit throughout and was never asked for an effort. He looked a little green late but the jockey looked after him here with those around him ridden out and pushed. Looks to be a 2yo colt that might have some ability.

The scratching of DRAFT DAY opens this up a bit.

COVERT looks the winning chance, while ELEGANT BOOM one of the key dangers following some alright Pakenham jump outs and the blinkers going on. The current favourite DALEELATY had two Flemington synthetic jump outs and didn't do much wrong - the winner (Lulu's Halo) from the latest since ran 7th of 10 on debut.

We have COVERT on top - smaller chances to ELEGANT BOOM and DALEELATY.

PAKENHAM - Race 6

#5 CREDLIN (3) - E Jusufovic

Super jump out by CREDLIN, the 5yo mare doing everything but winning when 2nd in Heat 15 on Aug 2 to one we have an opinion of in Rinnova. She jumped beautifully here but had to sit wide just off the pace because of the barrier. She ran into some trouble in the straight but once she balanced up and got some room, she hit the line super here under a strong hold. She broke her maiden first up last preparation and on the back of this, pretty keen to follow her first up here and hopefully she pops up in a BM58.

Nice price to find out how she's going - looks a really nice E/W bet at $8/$2.
