BlackBook - Friday, 27 May 2022

Please see below for our #BlackBook runner comments for Friday, 27 May 2022. The runner's highlighted are our #BlackBook runners (the key runners of focus), while those included in the 'other' section of each race are additional runner's that have jumped out well enough to be worth noting. Our figures and benchmark ratings are from PuntingForm.

BALLARAT - Race 3

OTHER

#6 RAIN LORD cruised to a win in a Dec 31 jump out, backing that up with a win in Heat 7 on Jan 10 just ahead of previous maiden winner Bistro with a comfortable gap back to 3rd. The 2yo colt looked comfortable as he led throughout and was never asked to extend at any stage. Time was on the slow side for the morning, but a nice bit of work none-the-less.

*recent jump outs on Apr 22 and May 6.

CRANBOURNE - Race 4

OTHER

#8 KEPPEL BAY just got the upper hand of Butter Blonde in Heat 5 on May 20, winning in the third fastest time of the morning. She’s had the 3x career runs for 3x 2nd’s, so she’s becoming a slight non-winner but she just keeps running into one better, being What A Sham (placed in all 5x starts since) where they gapped 3rd by 3.5L+, Place Of Gold (since 2nd in BM64’s in next two runs) and then Snapped (won BM64 next start). Big watch first up if she can find the right race and finally not run into one better…

CRANBOURNE - Race 5

OTHER

This was a slick win by #5 DEEL BLASTER in Heat 7 on May 18 over the 1000m, now stringing together a pair of nice jump out wins on the back of his May 4 win over 750m. The latest jump out was in slow time (1:05.65s vs days average of 1:05.03s), but he did it the hard way when wide throughout but still was able to put the field away quite comfortably. Looks ready to return to the races.

CRANBOURNE - Race 8

OTHER

That’s now 3x jump out wins for #3 RATTLE AND BANG now, he can’t do much more ahead of his return. All 3x of these wins have been in really slick time, with his win in Heat 2 on May 11 over the 800m being the fourth fastest time of the morning. To summarise his past jump outs, his win on Apr 27 over 700m was in a very slick 43.97s, while his win on May 4 was over 750m and won in 47.15s being the fastest time of the morning. He’s flying.

BLACKBOOK SUMMARY

Runners

Confidence - Comments

Ballarat, Race 3

#6 RAIN LORD (4) - P & P Snowden

Medium.

He is a BlackBook runner from a previous prep, this being his debut though and recent JO's were good enough to be competitive here.

Cranbourne, Race 4

#8 KEPPEL BAY (12) - B & JD Hayes

High - look to play SP and hopefully get a better price closer to the jump.

Cranbourne, Race 5

#5 DEEL BLASTER (13) - M Laurie

Low/Medium - looks a small E/W chance.

Cranbourne, Race 8

#3 RATTLE AND BANG (11) - D Binaisse

Low/Medium - looks a small E/W chance.

Cranbourne, Race 4

KEPPEL BAY’s three career runs have rated +3.3, +4.0 and -6.7, all of which would be the best last start rating of this race and have him very hard to beat. He looks the on top selection and if he's improved on last preparation, he really should be winning this. The scratching of Seydoux helps and he comes into barrier 10 post-scratchings.

The worry is the price at ~$2 - would recommend betting late.
