Please see below for our #BlackBook runner comments for Friday, 12 May 2023. BLACKBOOK RUNNERS - WATCHLIST
Cranbourne, Race 2 #9 ROCKETORO (3) - M Price & M Kent Jnr | BlackBook jump out comments: ROCKETORO was very ordinary on debut at Bendigo and didn’t seem to have many excuses, a Good(4) track and nothing in the stewards report. Immediately spelled, he returned to finish 2nd in a Apr 24 jump out over 1000m where he was no match for Hellfire late, with that galloper coming off a maiden win only 5-weeks prior and since running 4L Toronto Terrier at Sandown since. He was back at the jump outs in Heat 17 on May 1 where he was again over 1000m and going toe to toe with a previous maiden winner, this time stablemate Bencoolen but this time getting over the top late to win as he was asked to extend where they gapped 3rd in the process and clocked nice time. On the back of these and the company he’s done it with, he should run well in a maiden first up. |
Cranbourne, Race 4 #1 BANGHOLME (15) - A McGregor | BlackBook jump out comments: BANGHOLME is another from Heat 9 on Apr 24 that we think is worth following. He ran 2nd on debut to Smile And Wave at a nice price, that galloper then winning a CL1 at her next start by 2L to frank the form. He’s cruised to the line in both of his jump outs and been relatively well held and quiet, but think he can run a cheeky race first up as he did on debut. |
Cranbourne, Race 4 #9 FINE REBEL (7) - J Moloney | BlackBook jump out comments: Keeping an eye on FINE REBEL who closed well into 2nd place in Heat 9 on May 1, his first jump out this prep. *the 3rd horse from this JO was Truffle Finder, since ran 2nd by 0.2L in MDN at Pakenham. |

STAKING
We know that everyone takes a different approach to their staking, which is why we don't delve into specific staking for each of our runners and we leave how you stake and bet our runners completely up to the individual.
Personally, we have followed different staking systems over the years to fine tune our own punting, but have found that the most profitable approach is to follow a "Collect system".
This system means that the punter (us) bets on the win only (no place bet) to collect 4% of our bank on every BlackBook runner we have. To begin, you need to select a starting bank - as an example, a starting bank of $10,000 will see us betting to collect $400 (4%) on each runner.
If a runner is $2, we will bet $200 @2 to collect $400.
If a runner is $20, we will bet $20 @20 to collect $400.
If a runner is $3.50, we will bet ~$114 @3.50 to collect ~$400.
We highly recommend having a read of the below PDF document from Dan O'Sullivan in regard to the Six Rules to Increase Profit, Staking like a Professional and Punting As An Investment (see here):
